Precare, Aftercare & Consent

Dermalux LED Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that harnesses the power of pure light to accelerate the skins natural rejuvenation and repair processes.

The Dermalux treatment offers a natural, pain-free and effective way to achieve youthful and healthy skin. The visible effects can be immediate, after just one treatment. Skin becomes more hydrated, plump and radiant and any redness and irritation is calmed. A course of treatments offers a more dramatic and lasting improvement in the appearance and health of the skin.
It also provides treatment of compromised and reactive skin conditions. It helps Acne and Rosacea, Pigmentation & other inflammatory disorders such as Eczema, Dermatitis & Psoriasis.  

Is Dermalux Safe?

Yes, it is safe and anyone can have this treatment unless you have a condition that makes you light sensitive.

Everyone can benefit from LED light therapy. LED’s emit a low-level light energy that will not burn or irritate the skin. It is suitable for all skin types and age groups. There is also no risk of unwanted side effects or downtime, which is often seen with more invasive procedures.

The technology of LED Light therapy is over 100 years old. It has been shown in independent clinical research to deliver powerful therapeutic benefits to living tissue. It is medically recognised and has approval to treat for a wide range of skin concerns. LED light is rapidly becoming one of the most powerful skincare treatments.

PRE CARE

-Do not use active topicals that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or acids 3 days prior to your treatment.

-Avoid ANY other facial treatment at least 7 days prior to your treatment.

-Avoid extensive sun exposure / the use of tanning beds at least 7 days prior to your treatment.
(We obviously advise that you stop using tanning beds altogether because they increase your risk of skin cancer and accelerate visible signs of aging).

-Likewise, avoid Hair Removal at least 7 days prior to your treatment.

-In addition, please make sure you are not wearing makeup on the day of your treatment.

CONSENT

Contraindications:


1.  Light induced migraines
2.  Extensive sun or tanning 7 days prior and 7 days post treatment
3.  Roaccutane in the past 6 months 
4.  Prescription topical retinol products in the past 7 days
5.  Waxing of area to be treated in the past 7 days
6.   Allergy/Hypersensitivity to certain skincare ingredients / topicals
7.   Light Sensitive Medication
8.   Antibiotics (which can make you light sensitive)
9.   Epilepsy / Seizures triggered by light
10. Photosensitive disorder
11. Pregnancy
12. Anti arthritic medication such as Ridaura, Gold 50.

Although uncommon, LED Therapy may induce a Migraine attack. 


    I understand that the treatment may involve risks of complication or injury from both known and unknown causes, and I freely assume those risks. Prior to receiving treatment, I have been candid in revealing any condition that may have a bearing on this procedure.

    I consent and authorise all therapist’s at Skin by Paige Alexandra to use all 11 technologies that make up the Dermalux LED Therapy treatment on me. I certify that I have read this entire informed consent and I understand and agree to the information provided in the form. My questions regarding the procedure have been answered satisfactorily.

    I hereby release all therapist’s at Skin by Paige Alexandra from all liabilities associated with this procedure. This consent is valid for all of my Dermalux LED Therapy treatments and all technologies in the future as well.

    AFTERCARE

     

    -Do not wash your face or apply any skincare products for 12 hours

    -To minimize dryness, skip out on any 'active' products for 3 days after.
      (Retinals + Acids)

    -Do not apply makeup for 12-24 hours.
      Once 24 hours has passed and you wish to wear makeup, please ensure your brushes are clean and sanitised

    -Avoid exercise / sweating for 24 hours

    -Avoid swimming, sauna’s and spa environments for 72 hours

    -Sleep on a clean pillowcase at night. Preferably Silk / Satin (Like this).

    -Golden Rule: Make sure that you are also avoiding direct sun exposure. Especially tanning beds.
    (Preferably forever! But if you must, please wait 14 days)

    -Make sure to keep your skin well hydrated with a protective moisturiser. Apply it twice daily or more often if needed to reduce the appearance of flaking.

    -Drink LOTS of water!

    -Do not use scrubs, loofahs, exfoliating sponges or other means of mechanical exfoliation on your face for 3 days.
